What happens after signing up to the private beta for new CORE?

Thank you for choosing to take part in the private beta for ‘Submit social housing lettings and sales (CORE)’.

As a private beta user, you’ll be using an early version of the service and giving us feedback on what’s working and what’s not.

Private beta progress

We’re building new CORE in stages. At the moment we’re only accepting data from organisations who submit individual logs for general needs lettings in the new service.

Our next goal is to start accepting data for supported housing lettings. If you’re waiting to hear from us about next steps, we’ll send you an email nearer the time giving you notice of when to stop using current CORE and when you’ll move over to the new service.

Here’s a summary of the features we’ll be releasing in the future:

  • organisations submitting logs on behalf of other organisations, or who have organisations submitting logs for them
  • social housing sales
  • bulk upload (eCORE)

Switching over to the new service

We want to make switching over to the new system as easy as possible, with a few simple steps.

Step 1

Within 2 weeks of you signing up, we’ll email you to tell you whether your organisation can start using the service within a few weeks or a few months.

Step 2

2 weeks before we’re ready to move all your organisation’s data (logs, users, organisation details and data sharing agreement) over to the new service, we’ll send you an email asking you to:

  • correct or complete any logs you’ve created on the existing CORE system
  • deactivate any user accounts you no longer need
  • make sure all accounts in the existing CORE system have a valid email address so everybody in your organisation can access the new service.

Step 3

We’ll send you another email 48 hours before we intend to move your data and disable your organisation’s access to the existing CORE system.

Step 4

We’ll move your data across to the new service. We’ll try and do this out of hours, if we can’t there might be a couple of hours during which you will need to pause any work relating to CORE.

Step 5

As soon as your organisation’s data is successfully migrated, we’ll send you and all active users in your organisation an email with a link to new CORE. You’ll be asked to set up a new password. Everybody in your organisation will then be able to start creating logs or uploading data in the new service.

Next time you log in to the new service, you’ll use your email address instead of a username.

Stay up to date

If you’d like to stay up to date with private beta, you can also join our Show and Tell. We hold it every 2 weeks on Thursdays at 11:30. It’s a chance to learn about the service’s latest features and ask us any questions. Our Show and Tell dates up until the end of August 2022 are:

  • 7th July
  • 21st July
  • 4th August
  • 18th August

Contact us at SubmitCOREData@levellingup.gov.uk about future Show and Tell dates.

Feedback from private beta organisations

We’ve already onboarded two organisations: Believe Housing and Barrow Borough Council. Here’s some of their feedback so far:

  • “I like the way you can go back and make changes if you think you have put the wrong data in” (May 2022)
  • “I like the progress status and how it directs you to any errors before submission” (May 2022)
